AKRON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

NAMES NEW PRINCIPAL

AKRON, In – Mr. Scott Sterk was approved and named the new Akron Elementary principal at the TVSC board meeting held on Monday, June 21, 2021.  Mr. Sterk fills the role vacated by fellow Tippecanoe Valley alumni, Mrs. Chrissy Mills who is relocating this summer to Georgia.

Mr. Sterk grew up near Warsaw, relocated to Akron, and was a 1997 graduate of Tippecanoe Valley High School.   Mr. Sterk continued his education at Indiana University-Kokomo, Olivet Nazarene University, finishing with his administration and supervision education at Ball State University.

Mr. Sterk has served as a 6th grade teacher at Lincoln Elementary in Warsaw for 17 years. Mr. Sterk’s philosophy in the classroom or in administration is to focus on building relationships and getting to know the students, staff and parents as people.

Mr. Sterk shared, “I feel like I am coming home.  Our kids attend Tippecanoe Valley and I have personally seen how passionate the staff is at serving.  I love what I do and to do it in your hometown is just irresistible to me."

In a message geared toward his parents at Akron Elementary School, Mr. Sterk said, “I look forward to meeting and getting to know the parents in the community and learn more about how best to serve this community.”

Mr. Sterk and his wife have five children.  Mr. Sterk officially starts his leadership on July 1, 2021.
