Bella Carter-TVMS Science

What inspired you to become a teacher?

A: I had an amazing science teacher growing up who inspired me to pursue a career in science. I come from a family of educators and have always had a passion for learning and for helping others learn. Most importantly, though, I genuinely love people and caring for others. When I put all of those passions together, teaching felt like a natural fit. I truly believe teaching is one of my gifts, and I know I am exactly where I am supposed to be.

What are you most excited about for the upcoming school year?

A: I am most excited to get to know my students. It is such a gift to be able to teach and have the opportunity to positively influence students’ lives through education. Of course, I also hope to spark a passion for science in my students and help them see how exciting and meaningful science can be. But more than anything, I am looking forward to building relationships with my students, learning who they are, and watching them grow throughout the school year.

What do you enjoy doing outside of school?

A: Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Elijah. I also enjoy being outside, and am excited to serve as the Assistant Coach for the TVHS Girls Varsity Soccer Team! Coaching gives me another opportunity to work with students, build relationships, and support them both on and off the field.

What is your favorite book, movie, or TV show?

A: My favorite TV show is Stranger Things! I also love the Office. My favorite movie is Mama Mia.

What is your favorite place you've ever visited?

A: I have travelled to Sierra Leone twice to work in an orphanage. Sierra Leone is by far my favorite place I’ve ever visited.

Berklee Sutton-Akron 2nd Grade

Hello! My name is Berklee Sutton, and I am so excited to join Tippecanoe Valley as a 2nd grade teacher! This is my fifth year working in education, but my first full year as a teacher in my very own classroom... and I could not be more excited!
Throughout my life, I have been lucky enough to have some truly amazing educators who inspired me to become a teacher myself. I am especially grateful that I was able to work alongside some of those teachers as my dreams became a reality this past year!

I am looking forward to a wonderful year and cannot wait to learn, laugh, and grow alongside my 2nd graders!
